At the beginning of the 1930s, Dr Karl Boehmert opened a patent attorneys’ office in Berlin. In 1945, following the office’s move into the Feldstrasse in Bremen, his brother Albert Boehmert also entered the company and the next 20 years saw the Boehmert brothers further expand the firm. Alongside patent law, trademark law began to take on increasing importance.

Over the years, BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT has developed from a family business to a nationally and internationally respected name in the field of patent and trademark law.
Then, in 1972, a law office comprising patent attorneys and attorneys at law was created for the first time in Germany. In 1977, one year before the opening of the European patent office, BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT’s partners joined forces with the partners from the British patent attorneys’ practice FORRESTER, KETLEY & CO to form the European law firm FORRESTER & BOEHMERT. Based also in Munich, the firm only deals with patent law matters at the European Patent Office.
In 1990, BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT merged with the Berlin law office of Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Nordemann, which had been founded in 1945 by Dr. Friedrich Karl Fromm and had in particular made a name for itself in the field of copyright law, both at home and abroad.
