studied electrical engineering at the Technical University Munich and specialized in control engineering and automation systems. She gained practical experience in computer and microprocessor-aided automatic control and interface control for real-time processes at a Munich-based systems engineering company.
Eva Liesegang has worked at BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT since 1991. Besides training as a German and European Patent Attorney, she broadened her knowledge of patent law by spending a period of time working in the patent department at Hewlett- Packard in the USA.
Eva Liesegang is active in all areas of technical industrial property rights, in particular patents and utility models, and has extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications and in enforcing protective rights in litigation and in arbitration as well as licensing negotiations. She represents her clients in opposition and nullity proceedings before German authorities and courts, as well as before the European Patent Office. She also advises her clients on all matters involving industrial and intellectual property, in particular on the management of patent portfolios and the structuring of patent departments and their work processes.
Her special technical interests are, among others, electrical and mechanical engineering, control engineering (software and hardware), communication technology, semiconductor technology, drive engineering, medical technology and special topics related to physics and mechanical engineering. She advises numerous medium-sized German clients and large international companies.
Eva Liesegang regularly gives seminars on aspects of patent law both in Germany and abroad, with Asia, and particularly India and Japan, forming a particular focus of her seminar work.
Eva Liesegang was a member of the Board of the Institute of German Patent Attorneys (Patentanwaltskammer) for many years, and is an active member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR), the Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP), the Fédération Internationale des Conseils en Propriété Industrielle (FICPI), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), UNION and the Licensing Executives Society (LES). She also regularly takes part in conferences organized by the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA).
