studied biochemistry at the University of Leipzig. During her PhD thesis she developed assays to study serine proteases utilizing fluorescence resonance energy transfer. Afterwards, she worked on isotopic labeling of serpins by protein splicing at the Brandeis University, Boston, MA. During her postdoctoral stay at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA, she developed biosensors based on antibody fragments and solvatchromatic fluorophores for use in living cells. Her main interests are in the fields of biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, immunology and biotechnology.
