
Dr. jur. Rudolf Böckenholt, LL.M.
Attorney at Law (Germany), Certified IP-Lawyer, admitted at the European Trade Mark Office, Partner, Bremen
studied law at the University of Münster with special emphasis on Intellectual Property. Later that, he joined the postgraduate scholarship programme “International Studies in Intellectual Property Law” of the German science initiative, Stifterverband. This included periods of study at the School of Law, University of Exeter (UK), at the Technical University of Dresden and the German Patent and Trademark Office in Munich and was completed in the award of his Master of Laws degree, LL.M. After this, at the Institute for Information, Telecommunication and Media Law, School of Law, University of Münster, he obtained his doctorate for a comparative study on the delineation between exclusive trade mark rights and copyrights.
His practice focuses mainly on trade mark, design patent law as well as unfair competition matters; his work in developing and managing intellectual property portfolios is particularly accompanied by the assertion of the respective rights (e.g. infringement proceedings, border seizures). He predominantly advises medium sized and large international clients in the areas of media and consumer products. Dr. Böckenholt is also active in litigation work concerning technical property rights, with a particular focus on mechanical engineering.
Dr. Böckenholt has been a regular contributor to GRUR Prax (magazine on trends in the practice of intellectual property law). He is also one of the authors of the Munich Attorneys’ Handbook on Intellectual Property. He is a member of GRUR, INTA as well as the association “Friends of the Information, Telecommunications and Media Law Faculty" of the Westphalian Wilhelms University, Münster.
