
Dr. jur. Florian Schwab, LL.M., lic. en droit
Attorney at Law (Germany), admitted at the European Trade Mark Office, Partner, Munich
studied law at the Universities of Vienna, Passau, Tours (licence en droit international public) and Munich. He obtained the degree of Masters of Laws in European Law at the University of Durham (GB) and wrote his doctoral thesis in Community Law analyzing the case law of the European Court of Justice on the principle of proportionality.
Since 1998 he has practiced in the field of intellectual property rights, especially copyright law, trademark law and unfair competition. He oversees trademark application procedures for his clients and manages numerous extensive patent portfolios. He is also involved in combating product piracy, and in customs seizure, and bringing infringement proceedings in court.
Florian Schwab is a member of the European Communities Trade Mark Association (ECTA), the Inter- American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI), the International Trademark Association (INTA), the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), the Association des Praticiens du Droit des Marques et des Modèles (APRAM) and UNION. In the ECTA he is the German member of the Anti- Counterfeiting Committee, and at ASIPI he belongs to the Trademark Committee.
Florian Schwab has been a regular contributor to the “World Trademark Review” and “World Trademark Review Daily” journals for many years.
