
Prof. Dr. jur. Axel Nordemann
Attorney at Law (Germany), admitted at the European Trade Mark Office, Honorary Professor at the University of Constance, Partner, Berlin
studied law at the Universities of Göttingen and Munich. Subsequently, he was a research fellow at the Max-Planck-Institute for Foreign and International Patent, Copyright and Unfair Competition Law, Munich. During this time, he wrote his doctoral thesis on the law of copyright in photography. In 1992, he first worked as an attorney for a small law firm in Munich; in 1993 he joined BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT becoming partner in 1996. The focus of his work is in trade mark law, copyright law and competition law.
In trade mark law, Axel Nordemann advises German and international companies from a wide range of industries: publishing houses, radio broadcasters, pharmaceutical companies, advertising agencies, toy manufacturers, exhibition companies, a German museum, several retailers and more have engaged his services in the protection and assertion of their legal interests. He manages worldwide trade mark portfolios and represents trade mark owners at the German Trade Mark and Patent Office, the Office for the Harmonisation of the Internal Market as well as before German courts and the European Court of First Instance/European Court of Justice.
In copyright law, Axel Nordemann mainly works for national and international media organisations and publishers. He advises his clients in matters of copyright contract drafting and copyright litigation. In addition, he often handles cases involving counterfeits on the interface between copyright law, design patent law, competition law and trade mark law.
In competition law, Axel Nordemann advises companies mainly in matters of counterfeits and misleading advertising.
Axel Nordemann is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Copyrigth Society of the USA (CSUSA) and a member of the Association Littéraire et Artistique Internationale (ALAI). He is also a member of the expert committee for competition and trade mark law of the German Intellectual Property Association (GRUR) as well as a member of the Academic Committee of the International Trademarks Association (INTA) and the Co-Chair of it’s Adjunct Professors Special Interest Group.
The JUVE Handbook 2011/2012 mentions him several times as a recommended attorney, in particular in the areas of trade mark law and competition law and in the categories media and publishers. Best Lawyers 2010 also lists him amongst the selected lawyers in the area of IP law.

- Together with Dr. Czychowski, he wrote the chapter on national and international copyright law in "Hasselblatt: Munich Attorneys' Handbook on Intellectual Property" (2008)
- Co-editor and Co-author of the new commentary on competition law "Götting/Nordemann" (2009)
- Author of two examples of unfair competition in the commentary “Fezer: Lauterkeitsrecht: UWG” (2009)
